How did I get here?
A neverending question...
I started my online business, I would say since 2003 as an Independent Distributor for a wellness Company. As I learned the online space and invested in myself financially about virtual events, payment gateways, digital marketing, publishing and such the like, my interest and talent began to get more specialized and I started offering specific services in Publishing, Writing and Marketing. I still do so today as many reach out to me and refer business. I am thankful.
When blogs came on the scene, it was the thing to do just like when social media showed up, everyone felt they had to be on every social media platform but soon realized how overwhelming it is and how irrelevant most are to you as a person and your business, if you have one. I have never been one to follow ‘shiny objects’ and I like to take the time to understand ‘the why’ behind me doing anything in such a way that it would fit with my personality and allow me to stick with it and have an impact. Blogs somehow didn’t do it for me. I found I wasn’t consistent and while I may have received a few likes and shares and even comments, it became a monotonous activity that eventually waned. I have observed the same with many who I consider ‘influencers’. I am sure most, if not all, hired someone after a while to do it for them but then you risk losing ‘your voice’ and your followers pick up on that and your results are then affected.
If you have reached this point, you may be wondering why then am I on this platform if it seems that blogs are not my thing?
The thing is timing is everything and I guess I have been waiting, hoping and praying for something to show up that would allow me to be consistent, offer value, build a loyal following and make a sustainable income all in one place. I have authored books and tried to sell them. I have offered ebooks as giveaways and have created courses. Somehow, nothing gave at least not at the level I had hoped and I felt all the work was in vain. That may not seem so to the person watching but within me, that’s how I felt . I am sure my story is not unique but one thing I don’t believe in is beating a dead horse. In order for things to change, you need to change. Whether it’s within you or something you’re doing or both and I have been working on both. It’ a work in progress!
Substack showed up!
I can’t even remember how or where but it just felt like that thing I have been waiting and hoping for. I gave it a quick view when I first came upon it to return later because I liked what I saw. I attended a training and was really impressed with the hundreds of writers from all over the world in this community who were supported in what they wanted to share from their heart and soul. I saw and felt purpose! And it felt right!
It’s still very new to me as I write this and I am learning Substack as I go along but I am not starting at ground zero. As I mentioned I have authored and co authored books as well as a Podcaster and offer Publishing services and more so I am confident in what I have to share with you. I am just excited at this new journey and see it as a ‘me’ project, a new start to all the skills and knowledge I have amassed over the years and still have in me to share. A ‘me’ project because I can already see and feel that I will be growing personally from doing this; as writing as I have have said to many, is therapeutic to the soul and where I am in life right now, I feel strongly that is my calling. I have been trying to avoid it but there are things in life you just can’t run or hide from. It follows you!
So, will you take this journey with me?
I see it as one where we are holding hands, sharing together and growing; you know like best friends when we were kids. It is hoped that what I bring to this community allows you to experience the peace, joy, happiness and empowerment you deserve and more.
What can you expect?
